Chateau Ste. Michelle April 2007 Newsletter

Here at Chateau Ste. Michelle there's usually a story behind every wine. Our newest release— the 2006 Nellie's Garden Dry Rose—is especially interesting in that it embodies what happens when the talents of our red and white winemaking teams converge on a single wine. While most Chateau Ste. Michelle wines are either created by one team or the other, both teams had a hand in crafting this Dry Rose:

Chateau Ste. Michelle"We received the Syrah fruit at our Canoe Ridge Estate red wine facility where Joshua Maloney, our Red Winemaker, gave it just enough skin contact for the perfect color. Then we drained the juice off the skins and turned it over to our Woodinville white wine cellar, where we cold fermented most of the juice like a white to keep all those fresh fruit and floral aromas. The wine shows beautiful fruit aromas and flavors of strawberry, cherry, raspberry with subtle spice notes. It's ideal for spring and summer barbecues. I like to call it the perfect 'deck wine'," explains Head Winemaker Bob Bertheau. Last year's Syrah Rose was such a huge hit with our Vintage Reserve Club members that it inspired our winemakers to make this wine available to a larger audience-you may even see it in a store near you!

You can find the 2006 Nellie's Garden Dry Rose online, at our winery, and in select wine shops around the country. We've also released some other exciting wines in the last two months. Read on to find out the rest.
