WINEMAKER VIDEO TASTING NOTES
2009 Ethos Syrah

Columbia Valley. The Ethos Syrah represents the ultimate combination of power and softness. The wine offers a rich mouthful of dark boysenberry fruit with hints of earth among layers of complexity and depth and a sweet finish. Half of the fruit came from our Cold Creek Vineyard and the balance from the Wahluke Slope. Eastern Washington’s soil and climate is such a great match for growing amazing Syrah.

As many of you know we have added a tasting option that features wine and food pairings. I wanted to answer some questions about this tasting that we have received from club members so far.
Q: Does this mean we don't have a complimentary taste when we pick up our wines?
A: The tasting in the club room as well as the wine shop will continue to be complimentary to club members and we have actually increased the number of wines we are featuring in the club room to give members more options to taste everyday at the Chateau.
Q: Do we need an appointment to taste?
A: The only time you need an appointment is if you are interested in participating in our library tasting. This includes both the Reserve Tasting as well as the new Pairings Tasting. We can sometimes accommodate walk-ins for these tastings but recommend an appointment to ensure we can accommodate your group.
Q: When will you stop offering the Reserve Tasting in the library?
A: As of January 1st we will solely offer the Pairings Tasting in the library. This tasting will feature cheese and wine pairings, but may be adjusted for special occasions, such as a chocolate and wine pairing. Please note that each membership is granted 2 tastings at the discounted rate of $15/person.
Hopefully this answers some of your questions. We are very excited to be able to offer this new tasting to our guests and we hope to see you in the library soon!
Cheers,
Sarah Kaulfers, Wine Club Supervisor

2009 Ethos Reserve Merlot, Columbia Valley
92 pts - Wine Spectator (October 2012)
“Broad, supple and velvety, offering a plush mouthful of plum and currant fruit, tinged with roasted meat and red pepper notes. Finishes with elegance, precision and length.”
2010 Indian Wells Chardonnay, Columbia Valley
90 pts - Wine Spectator (October 2012)
“This sleek, appealing white brims with lemony pear and spice flavors, finishing with a refreshing lilt and surprising intensity.”
2011 Eroica Riesling, Columbia Valley
93 pts & “Good Value” - Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (September 2012)
“Once again this collaboration between Ernst Loosen and Chateau Ste. Michelle finds a place at the very head of the class. It is a tightly bound wine of steely potential rather than one of immediate sweetness and juice, but, even now, it teases with subtle suggestions of flowers, sweet limes and stony spice. Its scant suggestion of sweetness is balanced by plenty of youthful acidity, and its impressions of nerve and vitality make it one that can be confidently set aside for further age if you can resist its already inviting come-hither entreaties.”
