- Chateau Ste. Michelle Hosts "Reason for Riesling" Campaign

As North America's leading Riesling producer, Washington state's Chateau Ste. Michelle kicks off its new "Reason for Riesling" campaign in six markets across the country this spring and summer to promote the wonderful nature of Riesling. As part of the program, the winery will participate in popular regional wine and food festivals where adult consumers can learn more about Riesling and sample Chateau Ste. Michelle's diverse range of Riesling styles, including its Dry Riesling, Columbia Valley Riesling and Harvest Select Sweet Riesling. In addition, the program includes digital engagement through outreach to national wine and food bloggers; Reason for Riesling song parody call-in radio contest; as well as in-store tastings, and restaurant features and food pairings. The participating markets Include: Tampa, St. Louis, Houston, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Norfolk/Virginia Beach.

Michelle as one of its “Wineries of the Year” for the 17th time in its annual Buying Guide, making it the most honored American winery in the magazine’s “Hall of Fame.” Only one other winery (Penfolds) has received more “Wineries of the Year” awards with 21 honors.

Chateau Ste. Michelle, Washington state's founding winery, recently named Raymon McKee as its Red Winemaker. McKee joined Chateau Ste. Michelle in May 2008 as its Assistant Red Winemaker. He will report to head winemaker Bob Bertheau and manage day to day operations at Chateau Ste. Michelle’s Canoe Ridge Estate red winery near Paterson, Washington. Chateau Ste. Michelle is one of the few premium wineries in the world with two winemaking operations, one devoted to whites in Woodinville, Washington (15 miles northeast of Seattle), and another customized to the production of red wines in eastern Washington, overlooking the Columbia River.

Chateau Ste. Michelle winemaker Bob Bertheau and 2008 featured artist Cara Barer will celebrate the release of the 2008 Chateau Ste. Michelle Artist Series Meritage at a reception August 5th at Foster White Gallery in Seattle from 6-8:30 pm. The event will feature Artist Series wines, delectable food from the popular Seattle-based food truck Marination and a private reception with the artist at her Seattle exhibition at Foster White Gallery. In addition to previewing the 2008 vintage, Bob will pour the 2006 and 2007 library vintages of Artist Series. The 2008 Meritage commemorates the 16th vintage in the Artist Series collection, which debuted with the 1993 vintage, featuring the work of famed glass master Dale Chihuly. The 2008 vintage marks the first time the Artist Series blend includes all five Bordeaux grape varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot.
