For the eighth straight year and 14th time since 1988, Washington’s Chateau Ste. Michelle has been named to the annual Winery of the Year list compiled by Wine & Spirits magazine, one of the industry’s most prestigious publications.

Washington’s founding winery Chateau Ste Michelle was named “Wine Brand of the Year” by Market Watch at the publication’s “Leaders Choice Awards” ceremony Sept. 17th in New York. A group of “Leaders,” more than 200 top store owners whose combined annual revenues exceed $10 billion, vote for “the established and new brands in spirits, wine and beer.” In its October issue, the trade magazine cited the winery’s impressive growth over the last decade as the major factor for the winery’s recognition.

Two decades ago many U.S. grape growers were ripping out Riesling vines to plant more Chardonnay as Riesling was falling out of favor in the marketplace. Today consumers have rediscovered Riesling making it the fastest growing white wine varietal for the third straight year.

Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery in Woodinville will kick off its 25th summer concert series on June 6th with a special performance by Crosby Stills & Nash. Tickets for the winery’s concerts will go on sale Saturday, April 26th at 10 a.m. through all Ticketmaster outlets or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets may also be purchased in person at the Chateau Ste. Michelle wine shop from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Chateau Ste. Michelle, the foremost North American Riesling producer, and Dr. Loosen, the highly acclaimed German Riesling estate, will host the second “Riesling Rendezvous,” an event to bring together leading Riesling experts and producers to explore the versatility of Rieslings from around the world. The three-day event will be held at Chateau Ste. Michelle winery in Woodinville, Washington and will feature a grand consumer festival tasting, blind panel tastings and interactive breakout sessions.
