Winemaker Notes
Bob Bertheau, Head Winemaker 2012 Horse Heaven Chenin Blanc:
2012 was a return to the “classic” vintage conditions for Eastern Washington and a much welcomed change from the cooler 2010 and 2011 vintages. Our 34 year-old Chenin Blanc vines are located at our Horse Heaven Vineyard, which gently slopes down towards the Columbia River. This beautifully balanced vintage allowed these older vines to produce a complex yet fruit driven wine with aromas of melon fruit and just a touch of spice. The palate has refreshing fruit and natural crisp acidity followed by the fresh and soft finish.

Raymon McKee, Red Winemaker 2010 Cold Creek Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon: Made from the oldest blocks of Cabernet at Cold Creek, 2010 Cold Creek Cabernet is a luscious mouthful of ripe black fruits and rich dense tannins. The cooler ripening season in 2010 helped to ripen the grape tannins to express a softer, seamless, and downright drinkable expression. Cabernet from vines as old as these express the place they live and grow in, showing off the characteristic dark brown sugar and tobacco aromas that typify Cold Creek terroir. Bob likes to pair this wine with sizzling steaks, hearty winter stews, and rich pasta dishes. On the other hand, I love it with blue cheese and dark chocolate.

Meet Your Club Guest Services Team
Alex has been at the Chateau since 2011. As a student at the Northwest Wine Academy at South Seattle Community College, where he is currently studying Wine Production, Alex is able to utilize his studies to inform customers about the nature of the wine-making process, which in turn, enhances their experience while visiting CSM.

Alex is always willing to help his peers in any way possible. He excels at superior customer service, offering customers a wealth of knowledge (laced with a grand dose of humility) not only about CSM, but about wine-making itself. Alex is a pleasure to work with and we are truly lucky to have him on our team.
