Tastes of Wine Country are Brought to Life in “Chef in the Vineyard” Cookbook by John Sarich

03.30.2010

Discover a selection of premiere wine estates from Washington, Oregon and California through the pages of “Chef in the Vineyard,” the new book by Chateau Ste. Michelle’s Culinary Director John Sarich. Releasing in April, his fifth book presents a unique travel cookbook that includes more than 140 wine-friendly recipes with recommended wine pairings from each featured estate.

The book takes readers on a visual tour of each region. Sarich tells the story of 10 selected wineries, providing unique perspective with each one’s history, terroir and wine. The excursion begins with Washington State’s historic Chateau Ste. Michelle and continues the journey through Washington, visiting Columbia Crest, Snoqualmie, Col Solare, Northstar and Spring Valley Vineyard. Heading south, the tour explores Erath winery of Oregon and onto California’s Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, Conn Creek and Antica Napa Valley.

“My life was changed due to the time I spent around wine and food,” said Sarich. “My hope is that I am able to open the world’s eyes to the quality wines being produced in the Pacific Northwest and California, and to have these wines enjoyed with local, fresh, easy-to-prepare dishes.”

Overflowing with delectable three-course menus, “Chef in the Vineyard” captures the essence of the region with a collection of mouthwatering recipes -- from Prosciutto Salad Rolls and Grilled Quail with Poblano Cornbread Pudding to Oregon Blueberry Tart and Apple and Pear Tarte Tatin. Alongside each menu is a list of Sarich’s favorite ingredients from the area.

“Chef in the Vineyard” retails for $32.95 and will be available at bookstores, major chains and supermarkets across the country, www.chefinthevineyard.com, or at Chateau Ste. Michelle winery. John Sarich will host a book release party at Chateau Ste. Michelle winery in Woodinville, Washington on April 22 and sign books at the winery's "Women & Wine in Woodinville" event on May 2nd.
