Chateau Ste. Michelle is not only the oldest winery in Washington State, but also the largest. Michelle 2008 Ethos Late Harvest White Riesling offers a honeysuckle-scented nose and flavors of fresh marmalade and apricot preserves that are washed in brilliant, cleansing acidity.

This one was a bit cloying for my taste, but I could stand to pour it over vanilla ice cream . If you’re looking for a more impressive presentation, try homemade apple pie, almond biscotti with dried cherries and orange zest, or pound cake topped with vanilla or peach ice cream, real whipped cream, fresh berries, and even shaved white chocolate.
