Limited production and special handling make this the prestige Chardonnay offering from the entire Ste. Michelle portfolio. Much of the fruit is from original plantings at the Cold Creek vineyard, and gives the wine depth and resonance. This vintage has had plenty of time to absorb the new oak and integrate the flavors, and is drinking beautifully.

Broad and spicy, with a tangy uplift to the balance, finishing with minerality around the pineapple and pear flavors.

The 2007 Ethos Chardonnay is a blend of Cold Creek Vineyard and Canoe Ridge Estate fruit. It was barrel-fermented (75% natural ferment), went through malolactic fermentation, and was aged sur lie for 10 months. Light gold-colored, it reveals a quality perfume of toasty oak, mineral, baking spices, pear, and white peach. Medium-bodied, creamy-textured, and savory, this tasty, balanced Chardonnay will drink well over the next 6-8 years.

Ethos is the top of the Chardonnay pyramid for Ste. Michelle; consistent with other, less expensive bottlings, in its explosion of ripe fruit and generous amount of buttery oak. But here the oak comes from pricey barrels and the steely acids provide a spine that is missing from the others. This is a fine example of Washington Chardonnay, and could be cellared for up to a decade.
