Chateau Ste. Michelle 2009 Canoe Ridge Estate Chardonnay Horse Heaven Hills

90 points  The Wine Advocate - August 31, 2011

The 2009 Canoe Ridge Estate Chardonnay was partially native yeast-fermented followed by 9 months sur lie in 31% new French oak. It offers up toasty pear and spiced apple aromas leading to a round, concentrated, spicy Chardonnay whose oak is well integrated. Drink this excellent value over the next 3-4 years.

“Very Good”  KensWineGuide.com - July 1, 2011

This light yellow colored Chardonnay from Washington opens with a mild lemon and light oak bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, and slightly creamy. The flavor profile is a light oak infused apple with a touch of mineral. The finish is dry and its oak notes linger. I would pair this wine with honey mustard marinated chicken off the grill.

  Tri-City Herald - February 9, 2011

This carries a heftier oak profile than the Columbia Valley offering, but the barrel notes (50 percent new French) are restrained on the palate. Aromas open with buttered popcorn, grilled pineapple, apricot and lemon yogurt, and there's a nice follow-through on the palate. It's seated comfortably in the mouth, backed by apples and lemon pith in the finish.
