“Excellent” Wine Press Northwest - March 1, 2011
How time flies. This marks the 15th anniversary of this blending of Bordeaux varieties, and the artwork came from the late T.L. Lange. A showy barrel program of 88% new oak makes for aromas of strawberry, sassafras, a box of Red Hots and a Brown & Haley Mountain Bar. Ripe strawberry, cola and citrus flavors take hold on the sloped shoulders of tannin. The hint of milk foam with cinnamon makes for a long and showy finish.
“Highly Recommended” California Grapevine - February 1, 2011
Medium-dark ruby; relatively restrained, spicy, cedary, blackberry fruit aroma with hints of anise and cola; full body; cedary, dark berry fruit flavors with notes of tar and graphite; full tannin; a bit tight and harsh on the finish; lingering aftertaste.
“Gold - San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition” Wine Press Northwest - January 7, 2011
88 points Wine Enthusiast - December 31, 2010
Essentially a reserve blend from the Cold Creek, Canoe Ridge, and Indian Wells vineyards, this offers pleasing, nuanced aromas of smoke and cherry, but seems to quickly thin out in the mouth...
4 stars Restaurant Wine - November 1, 2010
Best version of this wine in some years: supple, moderately rich, well balanced, and lightly tannic, with a smooth, long finish. It tastes of cassis, blueberry, toast, tobacco, and spicy oak. Excellent.
