4 stars Wine Peeps - October 17, 2011
Dark purplish red in color. Nice nose with espresso bean and blackberry aromas. Black fruit, espresso, and dust come through on the palate. Full-bodied and lively with medium to high tannins. Well-balanced with good complexity and a long, lingering finish. 4 stars (out of 5). 4 bangs for your buck (out of 5)

The 2008 Ethos Syrah spent 20 months in 63% new French and American oak. Dense purple-colored, it delivers inviting aromas of smoked meat, hung game, pepper, tapenade, blueberry, and blackberry. Plush on the palate with a velvety texture, it is long on rich flavor but short on complexity. It has the stuffing to evolve for a few years so perhaps that will emerge with additional bottle age.

Distinctive for its flavor profile, which features a layer of minerality running through the cherry and black pepper flavors. A hint of bitterness needs to soften on the finish.

The 2007 Ethos Syrah (100%) is a multi-regional blend aged for 20 months in 72% new, mostly French oak. A glass-staining opaque purple, it gives up aromas of smoke, grilled meat, bacon, incense, and lavender. Dense, ripe, and succulent, it has enough structure to evolve for several years and will offer pleasure through 2022.

A beautiful, amazing, drinkable wine. Wonderful blackberry and blueberry nose, with a very round and smooth delivery in the mouth with berry mocha flavors and a lovely chocolate finish. Awesome!
