Chateau Ste. Michelle 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley

“100 Best Buys of the Year ”  Wine & Spirits - October 14, 2011

Spice- a hint of tobacco, a hint of milk chocolate- gives way to a ripe set of fruite flavors in this big shouldered, thoroughly seductive red. The texture is driven by fine, peppery tannins, which stem the tide of ripe, plummy fruit, giving the wine a touch of elegance even as it remains irresistable. It's driking beautifully now; a by-the-case buy. (Previously scored 93 points)

Blind tasting reveals great $11 Cabernet...The evening's rock star, Chateau Ste. Michelle 2008 Columbia Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, was from an unlikely place: Washington State. I've tasted great Merlots from that region but I'm not familiar with the Cabs of the Northwest... Some of us thought it was the best wine of the evening, and even those that didn't were flabbergasted at the price: $11. "That's amazing," said a man near me who had it pegged as a sterling example of Napa's Howell Mountain region
