Five of the Bordeaux grapes were used in this wine, and two-thirds of the blend is Cabernet Sauvignon. Most of the grapes came from the excellent Canoe Ridge Estate Vineyard, and the rest were sourced from Cold Creek Vineyard. Dark, saturated flavors of black cherry and cassis are balanced against ripe, firm tannins. It’s full bodied and flavorful, and it displays plenty of power.

Made in fairly modest quantities, this Merlot bears dark fruit that shows a pleasing, dusty quality. The blend includes 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, which keeps it in the Bordeaux-style camp. Firm and concentrated, it finishes with a tasty mix of cocoa, coffee grounds and Asian spices.
