They turned to stone for this year’s Artist Series label, featuring Will Robinson’s Shield Warrior" green granite sculpture. The wine’s nose broadcasts forest notes reminiscent of Mount Rainer’s Grove of the Pariarchs and Heinz Blend pipe tobacco. There’s plum in the background of the nose, and the structure will punch you in the mouth. Blueberries join the plums on the palate with rich mouthfeel. It was a serious first vintage for Bob Bertheau, with tannins wound so tight the fruit hits you like a fist. This should be really interesting in three.
