Chateau Ste. Michelle 2008 Ethos Late Harvest White Riesling Columbia Valley

“Excellent”  Wine Press Northwest - July 1, 2012

This dessert Riesling comes from white winemaker Wendy Stuckey's first season in Washington after arriving from Australia. This reserve-level wine opens with aromas of grilled pineapples, spearmint and slate, followed by flavors of caramel apples and fresh apple pie.

“Best of the Best 2012: Domestic White Wines”  Robb Report - June 1, 2012

Chateau Ste. Michelle is not only the oldest winery in Washington State, but also the largest. While greater size does not usually connote greater quality, this estate consistently proves itself to be an exception to that rule. Though the winery dates back to 1934, the present company was formed 20 years later as American Wine Growers. The Chateau Ste. Michelle moniker belonged originally to a line of premium wines, but in 1976 the company assumed its current identity. Much admired for its single-vineyard Chardonnay, the label also crafts superb Cabernet Sauvignon and a dynamic late-harvest Riesling. The Chateau Ste. Michelle 2008 Ethos Late Harvest White Riesling offers a honeysuckle-scented nose and flavors of fresh marmalade and apricot preserves that are washed in brilliant, cleansing acidity.

Chateau Ste. Michelle 2008 Ethos Reserve Late Harvest White Riesling Columbia Valley

“Recommended Dessert Wine for Valentines Day ”  The Palm Beach Post - February 7, 2012

Sweet apples and pears emanate from the glass with a swirl, and the wine gives up luscious, almost syrupy candied pears and peaches, and honey. This one was a bit cloying for my taste, but I could stand to pour it over vanilla ice cream . If you’re looking for a more impressive presentation, try homemade apple pie, almond biscotti with dried cherries and orange zest, or pound cake topped with vanilla or peach ice cream, real whipped cream, fresh berries, and even shaved white chocolate. (He should fawn over you for eternity.)
