Ste. Michelle Wine Estates was recently awarded the 2016 “United States Wine Producer of the Year Trophy” in the International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC). The IWSC honored its award winners at its 47th annual International Wine and Spirit Competition Awards Banquet held on November 16th at London’s Guildhall. According to the IWSC, the evening marked the culmination of a 365 day campaign to establish the world’s finest wines and spirits and reward true excellence in the industry.
“We are honored to receive the Wine Producer of the Year award in such a distinguished global wine and spirits competition,” says Ted Baseler, President and CEO of Ste. Michelle Wine Estates. “We have spent the past five decades growing Ste. Michelle from a small winery in Washington state to one of the premier American wine companies.”
The IWSC credited Ste. Michelle for its high-quality wine from authentic estate vineyards, as well as Chateau Ste. Michelle winery’s leadership with Riesling.
“Today its ‘String of Pearls’ wine portfolio represents owned or imported brands that demonstrate the producers’ unwavering commitment to creating distinctive, high-quality wines from authentic estate vineyards… Above all Ste. Michelle is world renowned for its championing of Riesling. Every three years Chateau Ste. Michelle holds its celebration of the grape at its “Riesling Rendezvous, in partnership with Dr. Loosen, at which examples of Riesling from around the world are presented.”
Allen Gibbons, IWSC Group CEO remarked; “We at the IWSC are constantly inspired by the innovation and commitment of the industry. This is something we seek to reflect both in our own working practices and the awards we give.”
