Columbia Valley

Balanced Old World Style

We source grapes from all over Washington’s Columbia Valley to produce consistent Washington style wines of unparalleled quality, unique complexity and exceptional fruit intensity. Whether you’re planning your next dinner party or trying Chateau Ste. Michelle for the first time, our Columbia Valley wines are a great place to start.

The Chateau Ste. Michelle Dry Riesling is a dry, crisp, refreshing style of Riesling with beautiful fruit flavors, crisp acidity and an elegant finish. It offers inviting citrus aromas and flavors of ripe apricot. This is an incredibly versatile food wine and my favorite with oysters.

Our Pinot Gris style falls between the lighter Italian Pinot Grigio and the richer, rounder Pinot Gris from Alsace. The Chateau Ste. Michelle Pinot Gris offers fresh flavors of juicy pear, melon and a hint of spice. An ideal growing season, 2014 in Eastern Washington was one of the warmest in decades. Temperate Columbia Valley vineyard sites provided cool nights for gradual flavor development of Pinot Gris fruit.

We craft our Columbia Valley Cabernet to highlight concentrated Washington red fruit in an appealing, inviting style. Offering plenty of complexity and structure along with silky tannins, this accessible Cab pairs well with everything from beef tenderloin to pasta. A long and warm growing season resulted in beautifully ripe and balanced red wines for the 2013 vintage.

The Columbia Valley Syrah is a soft, jammy Syrah made in an approachable and fruit forward style. Syrah is blended with a touch of Viognier, Mourvedre and Grenache for layers of flavors. This is an easy-to-drink red. A majority of the fruit for the 2011 Syrah was sourced from the Wahluke Slope, an ideal growing region for Rhone varietals and known for producing fruit with intense color and flavor.

Our Columbia Valley Riesling is a blend of Riesling from throughout Washington’s Columbia Valley. The wine offers crisp apple aromas and flavors with subtle mineral notes. Our goal is to craft a refreshing, flavorful, medium-dry Riesling vintage after vintage. Riesling grapes for the 2013 vintage were harvested in September and October at the peak of ripeness. This is our “everyday Riesling” that is a pleasure to drink and easy to match with a variety of foods.

The Harvest Select Sweet Riesling is made in a slightly sweeter style than our Columbia Valley Riesling but still shows the classic elements of Chateau Ste. Michelle Washington Riesling. Made in a medium-sweet style, the 2012 vintage offers rich flavors of ripe peaches and apricot that are balanced by crisp acidity.

This Gewürztraminer is a flavorful wine with bright, expressive fruit and clove spice. This is a lush style of Gewürztraminer with intense floral character, yet it still maintains the grape’s natural crisp acidity. A majority of the fruit is from selected cooler sites in Washington’s Yakima Valley, which yields bright, aromatic Gewürztraminer fruit.
