2012 Austral Red Wine
Wine geeks rejoice; there is a surprise waiting for you inside this classic Southern Rhone-style blend! Our 2012 Austral Red Wine features whole clusters of Washington Syrah fruit that were bucketed into the bottom of the tank, then gently macerated during a slow native fermentation to yield an earthy wine filled with exotic spice. This complex vintage blends 58% Grenache with 32% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre.
The Barbera varietal, which originally hails from Italy, is known for its naturally high acidity. It has intense color, fresh vibrant fruit, and a touch of oak. We hope you enjoy the very first vintage of Barbera from Chateau Ste. Michelle.
2013 Cold Creek Red
2013 was another stunning vintage that allowed for seven different varieties to find their home in the Cold Creek Red Blend. Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon share the lead, with Malbec, and Syrah in supporting roles. Cameos by Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Barbera round out this vibrant ensemble cast.
2013 Cold Creek Vineyard Cabernet Franc
This variety expresses both fruit and herbal complexities in its flavors and aromas; a hot vintage like 2013 ripened those flavors to black cherry and sweet cooking herbs. The lengthy growing season in 2013 also allowed the tannins to achieve full ripeness –a luxurious silky expression.
2011 Cold Creek Vineyard Syrah
An exciting, younger planting imparts subtle minerality and spice to the blend. Cooler vintage acidity and velvety tannins offer a balance that makes this wine versatile and easy to enjoy.
2013 Cougar Vineyard Syrah
From its infancy at harvest to its maturity in the bottle, this wine from the Cougar Vineyard stood out as a shining example of everything I love about Wahluke Slope Syrah – an intricate interplay of rich fruit, subtle spiciness, smooth weighty tannins, and a long complex finish.
2012 C-S-M Red Wine
Finding the balance of acidity, fruit and tannins is always a fun, challenging part of making this wine, and I hope that you find the results as pleasing as I do.
2013 Walla Walla Red Wine
This blend of 48% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 7% Syrah is sourced from opposite ends of the Walla Walla Valley, and demonstrates how weaving fruit together from diverse sites can result in a wine of richness and depth that also displays fine tannins and softly nuanced aromatics.
Typically we highlight one vineyard, but the Washington Malbecs were so good in 2012 we couldn’t stick to just one! We sourced this vintage from our Canoe Ridge Estate, Cold Creek and Indian Wells vineyards. Concentrated, deeply colored and yet soft and round on the palate, it is one of our winemaker’s favorite blends to make every year because of its amazing varietal expression.
The 2013 Mourvèdre is the most complex we have ever done! This warm vintage was exceptional for Mourvèdre, resulting in a Washington wine with incredible structure, richness and character. Sourced from several vineyards throughout Columbia Valley, each selection adds interesting and complementary flavors like ripe, juicy red fruit with a hint of spice, followed by warm earthy notes and silky smooth tannins. Enjoy!
2012 Stone Tree Vineyard Syrah
Stone Tree Vineyard perennially delivers top-notch grapes, but 2012 was an exceptional vintage for this Washington Syrah. Even vines that often provide only an element of spice became a core component of this Syrah. Known for ripe, jammy reds and complex Rhone-based varietals, this classic Wahluke Slope – lush and decadent, but surprisingly nuanced with velvety smooth tannins.
2014 Austral White Wine
This rhone-style blend of Marsanne (60%) and Rousanne (30%), delivers richness and structure showing stone fruit and ripe melon flavors. A touch of Viognier (10%) provides layers of peach and minerality. All wines were barrel fermented and aged for five months in neutral oak.
2013 Dry Gewürztraminer
This dry style of Gewürztraminer presents the celebrated spicy ginger and clove aromatics of a classic Gewürztraminer mixed with hints of rose, lychee and pink grapefruit. Half the wine was fermented in stainless steel to capture these classic fruit notes, and half in neutral oak barrels for added complexity and richness on the palate. Selected cool sites in Washington’s Columbia Valley yield bright, aromatic Gewürztraminer fruit.
2014 Chenin Blanc
Our now 34-year-old Chenin Blanc vines at Horse Heaven Vineyard are still giving us great concentration and vibrancy after all these years. Another very warm year provided some extra richness and mouthfeel along with the requisite melon-like palate and a crisp, refreshing finish.
Here is a great example of what Sémillon should be – light bodied with flavors and aromas of citrus peel and green apple, with a dry, lingering finish.
2015 Midsummer's White
The Midsummer’s White is a refreshing, flavorful blend of Chenin Blanc, Riesling, Gewürztraminer and a touch of Muscat. Lush flavors of ripe peach and melon are complemented by lively acidity.
2014 Muscat Canelli
A fan favorite in our winery’s retail shop, the Muscat Canelli is a refreshing wine with aromas and flavors of sweet ripe pear and ginger spice. Its sweetness is perfectly balanced by its crisp acidity. Sourced from more than 30-year-old Muscat Canelli vines at our Cold Creek Vineyard, ideal for aroma and flavor development in the ripening grapes. Pair this Columbia Valley white wine with Asian cuisine or enjoy as an aperitif!
2014 Jonté Sauvignon Blanc
After spending a vintage in New Zealand, I wanted to push the Sauvignon Blanc envelope. The grapes were sourced from older vineyard parcels in the Yakima Valley and picked at lower sugar levels to showcase this lively, bold and exuberant Sauvignon Blanc style. I hope the tropical fruit flavors and bright acidity will make you feel as ‘jaunty’ as I do.
2015 Syrah Rosé
Rosé should be fun, fruit forward and complex without being complicated. We chose a cool vineyard site and picked the Syrah a little earlier than normal leading to a wine with fresh acidity and flavors of strawberries and cranberries. Don’t over think this wine, just enjoy it!
2013 Unoaked Chardonnay
This alternative, unoaked style of Washington Chardonnay shows off the variety’s refreshing fruity side. We sourced the fruit from cooler vineyard sites and fermented it in stainless steel to highlight the fresh acidity, minerality, and crisp flavors of apples and pears.
This Viognier exhibits lovely notes of guava, papaya and ripe pear flavors accented by subtle spice aromas. The wine was primarily fermented in neutral oak (80%) to add rich complexity and give a soft roundness in the palate. The remaining 20% was barrel-fermented to add layers of complexity to this jovial white wine. With one of Eastern Washington’s warmest seasons in decades, fruit ripening was superb for the 2014 Viognier.
2013 Waussie Riesling
Winemaker Wendy Stuckey loves making this wine, partly because of her Australian roots. The grapes for the 2013 vintage were sourced from cooler regions of the Valley. Waussie (Washington + Aussie) is a dry, ‘Aussie Style’ Riesling with pleasing citrus aromas and crisp flavors, a delicate palate and a lingering finish. Crisp and acidic, this dry Riesling pairs perfectly with seafood.
2014 Oak Oval Gewürztraminer
This dry style Gewürztraminer presents the celebrated spicy ginger and clove aromatics of a classic Gewürztraminer mixed with hints of rose, lychee and pink grapefruit. This wine was fermented in the Oak Oval and aged sur lie for four months adding texture and complexity.
2014 Oak Oval Chardonnay
We received such great feedback on our Oak Oval wines that we had to produce a second one! Yakima Valley sourced Chardonnay was the right choice to break in our newest Oak Oval barrel. The wine was aged sur lie for four months to extract the beautiful apple, pear and nutmeg aromas.
