Join us for this new series as we take a journey exploring everything you ever wanted to know about cheese. Seven educational tasting courses will be offered, one per month June through December, 7:00 - 9:00pm. Register for individual courses, or the entire series of 7 and save. Guests 21 and over only, please.
Session 1: Wine and Cheese Pairing Fundamentals —In this first educational tasting course, you will explore a brief history of cheese, taste cheeses and wines representing some of the classic styles and learn the evaluative methods of tasting for both wine and cheese. Join us as we taste and experience some amazing combinations and judge for yourself which you like best.
Session 2: Unique American Artisans will be looked at as we see how far American cheese has come over the years—American cheese beyond the singles! We will explore the styles being made in theU.S. and Pacific Northwest, and learn about small production cheese making. We will taste distinctly American cheeses and the wines that love them.
Session 3: Picnic Time and Cheeses that can Take a Hike! Taste a variety of cheeses perfect to take on your next outing or to summer outdoor concerts. We will be tasting cheeses in styles that can ‘take a hike’ and stay out of refrigeration, and portable pieces of bliss to take for an outing. Of course these will be paired with wonderful wines to enjoy outdoors and tips for pairing those wines.
Session 4: Back to School—History, Civics and Science This session has us starting a new chapter and going beyond the basics. We will review, cover a brief history of European wine & cheese, and you’ll learn English with British cheese! Finally, we will look at American Farmstead cheese and discuss the golden rule; when it comes to wine and cheese, it’s all about the science!
Session 5: Harvest Time for Wines & Cheeses covers new releases of wines and cheeses. You’ll learn about harvesting the flavors of summer and preserving them for the long winter ahead. We will look at why fall cheeses are unique, and what happens when wine ages. Finally we will explore cheese milk’s leap towards immortality.
Session 6: The Classics In the 6th of our series we will taste classics and explore classic wine and cheese pairings. Port and Stilton, Cabernet Sauvignon and Aged Gouda, Sauvignon Blanc and Chevre. Join us as we explore what makes them classic!
Session 7: Holiday Wine & Cheese In our final course we will celebrate with unique cheeses, bubbles & wine to celebrate the season. We will look at what we consider splurge cheese, and have a few surprises up our sleeves.
