Chateau Ste. Michelle, Washington’s Founding Winery, has released this 2017 Collector’s Edition Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon to commemorate the Seattle Kraken’s Inaugural Season and the beginning of our partnership as the Official Wine of the Seattle Kraken. The 2017 vintage is a nod to Seattle’s first hockey team, the Metropolitans^TM who won their first championship in 1917.

Our winemakers carefully harvested fruit from the prestigious Canoe Ridge Estate, a certified sustainable vineyard renowned for its elegant yet complex style. This wine represents the 'Pinnacle of the Vintage' and showcases both strength and finesse; a perfect representation of the distinctive spirit of Washington wines and the Seattle Kraken^TM.

Perfect to be cellared and aged, this limited production wine is a dedication from our Washington winemakers to passionate Seattle hockey fans as we enter a new era in the quest for the next title.

This flavorful red wine is a fresh take on a classic Rhone-style blend. Bright brambly raspberry and blackberry aromas leap out of the glass followed by candied orange peel, delicate allspice and cedar, and a kiss of vanilla. The flavors are bright and vibrant with juicy ripe strawberries and citrus notes.

This Syrah with opulent ripe fruit backed by delicate floral aromas and subtle spices is an easy choice to showcase. Plush round tannins and a long smooth finish make it a pleasure to pair with a variety of foods or to be enjoyed on its own.

This majority Grenache blend (54%) is accompanied by Syrah (32%), Cinsaut (9%) and Mourvedre (5%). Palate entry is focused and alluring, delivering an array of lush red fruits. In the cellar, select 500-liter puncheons were chosen to retain freshness and accentuate the lengthy finish.

Mourvèdre is such a fascinating and distinctive varietal, so blending it is always a huge treat! 2019 was no exception as the vintage brought out delicate and beautiful flavors. Sweet plum and blueberry fruit play against notes of brine pepper, and red meat.

While a departure from the typical Druthers Cabernet, faithful fans and new converts alike will appreciate the unmatched decadence of this wine. Built from three vineyard sites renowned for opulence, this vintage has a sophisticated balance of rich juicy blueberry and vibrant red fruit with a long lustrous finish.

The Block 9 Cabernet is an homage to blocks grown by some of our oldest vineyard partners. These mature vines create an elegant, structured wine with old-vine intensity. Deep raspberry and pomegranate flavors matched with subtle French oak leaves a silky texture and finessed finish. If only we all aged so gracefully!

For my very first Limited Release white wine I had the pleasure of sourcing from old vines in the cooler Yakima Valley AVA. By blending wine fermented in barrel with wine from concrete and stainless-steel tanks, I found a balance of complexity and vibrancy, with a rich textured finish.

Making our first organic wine at Chateau Ste Michelle was an exciting and nerve-wracking experience for the whole winemaking team. It is a commitment that requires the attention of every single person in the winery to ensure the organic wine is kept wholly separate. All equipment must be specially cleaned before use and all safety nets to ensure wine quality are removed. It is a risky business where many things can go wrong, and we are all very proud of the result of all our efforts. Our organic wine was blissfully unaware of the stress and effort surrounding its upbringing and made its way calmly into the bottle with all its raw and unadorned beauty intact.

Of course, the first requirement is organic grapes. Our grape-growing partner faced the same challenges of isolating the grapes from all other farming operations, and the removal of safety nets to protect the grapes from disease and pests. We are very grateful to have such capable partners in our efforts to create a wine that highlights our values of sustaining the land, the wildlife around it, our community, and our wine region.

Sourced from a single block of our Cold Creek Vineyard, fermented with the pedal to the metal, and aged in the finest French oak barrels, this is the decadent wine lover’s dream. Inky dark color, rich, juicy flavors, endless complexity, and a weighty finish that puts a steak in its place.

This blend of Viognier, Roussanne and Marsanne delivers richness and structure. Some of the Viognier was fermented in stainless steel to lend a bright pretty fruit note. The remaining Viognier, along with the Marsanne and Roussanne, was fermented in neutral barrels adding a creamy texture.
