The 2020 Artist Series Red Wine is elegant and shows balanced flavors of black cherry and blackberry with notes of violets, baking spice and cedar. THE ART
Chateau Ste. Michelle’s Artist Series red wine celebrates the inspired collaboration between artisan winemaking and fine art. The 2017 vintage labels showcase artist, Tony Angell. His interest in birds began in childhood and he has continued to work and rehabilitate wild species, including birds of prey, crows and ravens.
THE WINE
The year 2017 was a warmer vintage, but not hot for Washington state. Early bud-break and a relatively cool spring allowed for a nice, full growing season into October. Looking for the fresher, more complex wines, we turned to our Canoe Ridge Estate vineyard. At 77% it is the largest this vineyard has ever been in the Artist Series; the site is maturing before our eyes, making the perfect combination of density and restraint. Another portion, 13%, is from Dean Canyon Vineyard, which is blended with Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon from Lawrence Vineyard (10%). This fruit brings color, weight and a touch of herb notes. 2017 Ethos Reserve Merlot
Our goal with our Ethos Reserve wines is to showcase the best of Washington for the varietal and the vintage. The Ethos Merlot offers blueberry fruit with wonderful complexity and rich layers. Our Merlots in Washington are so big and concentrated, we actually add a touch of Cabernet to soften the tannins. - Columbia Valley
2019 Limited Release Mourvèdre
Mourvèdre is such a fascinating and distinctive varietal, so blending it is always a huge treat! 2019 was no exception as the vintage brought out delicate and beautiful flavors. Sweet plum and blueberry fruit play against notes of brine pepper, and red meat. - Columbia Valley
2018 Limited Release Mourvèdre
The best vintages often produce wines which can only be described in seemingly contradictory language. Our 2018 Mourvèdre is rounded and approachable yet it is densely layered with structure. The palate is lush and ripe yet there is freshness and great complexity. - Horse Heaven Hills
2016 Limited Release Zinfandel
Classic Zin characters of light raspberry jam and toast, I added just a touch of Syrah to fill out the palate but still keep the wonderful Zinnyness. Enjoy!
