THE ART
Chateau Ste. Michelle’s Artist Series red wine celebrates the inspired collaboration between artisan winemaking and fine art. The 2017 vintage labels showcase artist, Tony Angell. His interest in birds began in childhood and he has continued to work and rehabilitate wild species, including birds of prey, crows and ravens.

THE WINE
The year 2017 was a warmer vintage, but not hot for Washington state. Early bud-break and a relatively cool spring allowed for a nice, full growing season into October. Looking for the fresher, more complex wines, we turned to our Canoe Ridge Estate vineyard. At 77% it is the largest this vineyard has ever been in the Artist Series; the site is maturing before our eyes, making the perfect combination of density and restraint. Another portion, 13%, is from Dean Canyon Vineyard, which is blended with Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon from Lawrence Vineyard (10%). This fruit brings color, weight and a touch of herb notes. This 25th anniversary vintage of Artist Series is going to be very special. Enjoy!

2018 Ethos Reserve Merlot
The 2018 vintage provided magical conditions to create a complex Merlot. Dineen Vineyard makes up 55% of this wine, and I added depth and texture with 45% old vine Cold Creek Vineyard Merlot. This Merlot encapsulates everything that is remarkable about Washington State Merlot made by Chateau Ste. Michelle.

2014 Ethos Reserve Syrah
The Ethos Syrah represents the ultimate combination of power and softness. The wine offers rich dark blackberry fruit among layers of complexity and a sweet finish. The fruit came from our Cold Creek Vineyard as well as vineyards in the Horse Heaven Hills and Wahluke Slope.

2020 Ethos Reserve Chardonnay
This wine is a labor of love that requires months of tasting hundreds of individual barrels of Chardonnay to find the perfect balance of concentration and complexity. Fermented with 100% natural, uninoculated yeast and aged 10 months in predominately French oak barrels.

2017 Eroica XLC Dry Riesling, Columbia Valley
Supple texture, remarkable depth and complex flavors are the hallmarks of Eroica XLC. Extended Lees Contact (XLC) is a modern interpretation of classic, Old World, dry-style Riesling. In keeping with Germany’s Grosses Gewächs “GG” designation, this is a dry wine sourced from distinctive vineyards.

2014 Eroica Gold Riesling, Columbia Valley
Our Eroica Gold Riesling offers the best of both worlds, the bright natural acidity of our original Eroica with concentrated, ripe fruit flavors and a touch of sweetness. The wine delivers lush orange marmalade flavors with a crisp finish.

2016 Eroica Ice Wine, Horse Heaven Hills
An exotic, luscious, ultra-ripe wine with concentrated aromas and flavors of apricot and honey. The concentrated acidity balances the wine, leaving a bright, long finish.

2021 Eroica Riesling, Columbia Valley
This wine showcases the elegant purity of truly great Riesling. Sourced from cool climate vineyards, Eroica shows exuberant freshness with inviting stone fruit, citrus, and floral notes. Drink now to experience the youthful charm or age this wine for added complexity.
